Neurodiversity

Whether it be Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), autism, or any other processing disorder, neurodiversity is a way of defining someone whose brain has developed and/or functions differently from the neurotypical individual. One thing to remember is that neurodivergent individuals think differently and is not a lesser state mind.

Even though I utilize many different types of interventions, I work highly in the school of spoon theory when talking with individuals about neurodivergent issues. Helping clients understand how their social energy might be used up more than the average person or how their executive dysfunction might get in the way of their daily tasks has shown to help them organize their days better as well as help grasp and understand social situations, cues, and self-care more.
