Nickie Foland, M.S., LMFT
Hello! I’m Nickie Foland.
I was raised in the small farm-town of Fayette, Missouri. I lived there for a significant portion of my life and have been living in the Kansas City area for about 4 years. Just like when I was in Fayette, I’m always wanting to learn more about my community and what I can do to help it.
If there’s one thing to state about my journey to becoming a marriage and family therapist, it’s that it carries a lot building up to it. Before becoming an MFT, I earned a Master’s degrees in Professional Communication and a Bachelor’s in Communication. I was a public speaking teacher for multiple universities and, while I enjoyed helping students hone their public speaking skills, I realized my dedication belonged elsewhere: helping individuals on a more personal level.
When I’m not conducting therapy, I am watching movies, playing video games, listening to music, or a combination of the three.
As someone who is neurodivergent, I emphasize and have a special interest in neurodivergency, including ADHD, autism, fidgeting, and OCD. Moreover, to help ground myself, I practice, both on a personal level and as a therapist, mindfulness. I also have interests in depression, anxiety, relational conflict, and grief. I meet with people ages 13 and up.
